Hernandiaceae

The Hernandiaceae is a family of tropical genera of trees, shrubs and some lianas.  This pantropical family composed of 4 genera and 76 species.  The leaves are without stipules, large, simple or palmately compound and alternately arranged.  The flowers are regular, unisexual or bisexual and arranged in cymose inflorescences.  The fruit is an achene, sometimes two or four-winged.  The seed, with a leathery testa, has no endosperm.
